Father’s Day can be another day for some or memorable and exciting for others, here’s a little inspiration to create something memorable with your father: a Daycation trip. Here’s all about our Father-Daughter Daycation trip to Sarasota, Florida. It was a bonding experience filled with memories and positivity.
We first started off the daycation eating at The Old Salty Dog which had amazing beer battered seafood. I ordered jumbo shrimp (as you can see) that was blackened before being fried and it was not only good but some of the best beer batter I’d ever had. The location is right on the Gulf so the view was amazing. The Gulf was all around us!.

TIP #1: Go eat somewhere you’ve never heard of. Start with what you want to eat. Ex: Seafood, then pick a restaurant that has amazing reviews and you have never heard of!
We stayed in Lido Key, which is located 2 miles from Sarasota. We stayed in the Lido Islander which was one of the coolest and hidden treasures in Sarasota. Though at first we were a little skeptical of this 2 bedroom 1 bath condo we found out it had it’s own little beauty. It was not only cozy but hidden. When we first arrived we thought it was sort of strange how check in didn’t involve actually checking in? Seriously, no front office. No check in. Just a mailbox with a welcome letter and a room number. All rooms that had check in were unlocked which is pretty scary but also really cool (to me). So when we opened our room we were still pretty skeptical until we saw all of the coziness and beauty. It was designed beautifully and comfortably.

TIP #2: STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE. Don’t stay at a basic Holiday Inn. Try to go for somewhere that is different from what you’re use to. It is guaranteed to make the daycation more adventurous.

The hotel also had TONS of cool bikes for rent at $5 a day, so we thought it would be cool to bike to the beach and around the small city of Lido Key. I’m sure my dad hadn’t been on a bike in years and he was pretty sore the next morning but he also LOVED it. It was a great experience and he’s so glad I pushed him to do it.
TIP #3: BE AS ADVENTUROUS AS POSSIBLE. Yes it’s similar to tip 2. But it’s different because you should truly explore your surroundings. Push you’re dad to try something new and go different places. You never know what you might find! Rent some scooters or bikes and explore!

Once we got to Lido Key Beach we automatically saw the beauty and remoteness of the beach. Not too many people were there which was relaxing.
TIP #4: RELAX. Yes vacations are fun. But the point of a vacation is to get away and enjoy each others company! Relaxing is a way to really release stress! As children of your parents, in general, we STRESS them out. It’s the law of being a their kids. Even when they say you don’t stress them out or you don’t worry them YOU DO. So be sure to have some unwinding time during this Daycation. Even if it’s in the jacuzzi.

Outfit Details:
Hat: Value Village ($2.73)
Shirt: Thrift Store-Marietta (50 cents)
Kimono: Gift from friend
Shorts: Value Village ($1.49)
Shoes: Park Avenue Thrift Outlet ($1.75)
We also visited Downtown Sarasota which was also beautiful and full of great food and vibes. We stopped at Pastry Art which had the BEST guava banana cheese turnover. I absolutely loved it! I also loved their mix of Peach and Mango tea which wasn’t too sweet!

TIP #5: Be the tourist you are. Go sightseeing and see what all the surrounding areas have to offer. Don’t just stay in one area! Even though it is a daycation, there are 24 hours in a day and you can sleep when the daycation is over!
TIP #6: PACK LIGHTLY. It’s a daycation. Not a vacation. It’s a day trip and if you’re not even staying overnight you can sometimes just bring a book bag with you’re laptop, sunscreen, and chap stick in it.
Sarasota provides one of the best getaways for a great price! I truly enjoyed the beach, weather, and vibes on this Daycation with my dad! Not only is it a good remedy for alone time but PERFECT for a Father’s Day gift! Daycations can be local or far. We chose Sarasota just because it was an hour away by plane and was full of the relaxation that both our mental and physical states needed!

Remember when choosing a Father’s Day gift, create something memorable that will last a lifetime!
