This week's #PositiveHustler of the week is Skylar Kearney!
18 years old, owns her own business, serves God and executes everything she does fabulously.
At 13 years old with nothing to do but sew. Skylar's learning to sew turned into a passion for creating. Her creating is defined by her design, styling, and just being herself. Designing is her release, her relief and her repose.
Now she's redefined a new success at a young age for many people who don't have the luxury of growing up already famous. She built her business from the ground up. She's a great example of how persistence, positivity, and love can foster something beautiful that can lead to success.
As I met up with her at Octane Coffee in Atlanta. She was fashionable, happy and spreading nothing but love and positive vibes. As we sat down to talk about a few things such as branding, social media, and God I could tell she really loves being around others who shared positive vibes.
Remember: You attract what you put out into the world. If you put out positivity, you will attract positivity :)
#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso:
She described her favorite book #GIRLBOSS as a book of perspective. She took what she needed from it to grow. And it gave her what she needed to define her own success!
She learned to:
1) Invest in yourself.
Take the money you make or receive and put it straight into your business.
2) Invest in Time and Planning.
Putting time aside to work on your vision.
3) Every journey to success is different.
What works for one person may not work for you.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY:
4) Surround yourself by the right people.
Ralyks has 3 team memebers. Skylar who does the sewing, orders, and a lot of the vision. Dylan, who handles marketing, web, and customer service. And last but not least GOD who is the key to much of her inspiration and execution.
Faith is so important to you and your brand because...
"From the beginning I told my parents I wanted to wait until I could truly appreciate what it meant to be baptized. It means more than being dipped into the water, she joked. I also wanted to appreciate God more before I decided to be baptized. (She was just recently baptized a few weeks before her Graduation from High School). As for as her brand, it wouldn't have grown if it wasn’t for God. God manifested it within me. God got the vision out. As god matures me, my brand matures."
Using social media helps my brand grow my business because ...
She uses her social media to her advantage in order to really promote and get her business and vision out to more people from all over the world. Her favorite is IG, "Primarily because that's where I have the most followers. It's the easiest place for me to reach customers because if I didn't have Ralyks I wouldn't be on Instagram. It allows me to expose my brand. You can give a visual image of who I am and what my brand is."

Not only does Skylar create clothing to reflect her style, but she also creates items that reflects her customers vision but also enhances it. With the custom orders Skylar does take exactly what the person wants but if there is a way to make it better or enhance it to make the customer better. The little things she tweaks to make it compliment them better.
Skylar Kearney, who recently graduated this May did not just graduate with honors and a variety of cords. She graduated with a well established clothing called Ralyks, along with her diploma.
"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible."

Skylar knew the minute she started sewing at the age of 13 that she wanted to become a designer. Growing up flipping through Vogue magazines and studying the work ethic and designs' of her favorite designer Roberto Cavalli furthered her aspirations. She loves how he created through the world and adores his quote "I think God is the most fantastic designer." And although Roberto Cavalli inspires her as a designer, Skylar’s mother is her idol and mentor. Skylar has never been big on mirroring famous people because of their success. She strives to uphold herself as my mother does, to be strong, loving, positive, and happy because she knows at the end of the day, that's attainable!
Remembering that these are her central goals in her life, Skylar has no doubt that success will follow. And since she has a style that hasn’t been defined yet, it makes each of her collections fresh and unpredictable to her customers. She never sticks to one style and loves dressing according to her mood of the day. She can go from a vintage look one minute to a chic minimalist look the next and the versatility shows in her designs. One collection will never be the same as the next!
